CONTRACTOR TO COMPLETE WEST NILE REGIONAL EC OFFICE WORKS BY DECEMBER

The Westnile Regional Electoral Commission office construction work has reached 40 % and is expected to be handed over by the end of this year. This was revealed by the project site engineer during the project inspection by a team of members form Electoral commission in Arua city.
Lt.Alfred Niwagaba the site engineer form NEC Company says though their progress is at 40% ,they hope to hand over the completed works on 15th December 2024.
“What is dragging me behind is the toilet and a gate house which we have not touched ,that percentage is coming from preliminaries, we have 92% site preparation and earthworks 80% administration block, workshop work house at 53% we are still committed and working to complete this work by 15th December this year.”

This will be the first property to be owned by the Uganda electoral commission in the country since their inception.
While inspecting the site in Arua city, Justice Simon Byabakama the chairman electoral commission was impressed by the project saying they intended to expand their offices in the 12 regions across the country.
“We have not had any property that we call our own all the premises we are having currently are rented premises, we think this is going to improve on the quality of our work, we are going to safely and properly store the electoral materials before and after the electoral process are concluded, we also intend to replicate this to other parts of the country, we pray and hope that government will have the requisite resources to enable us replicate this,” the EC chairman stated

The construction of the multibillion regional electoral commission office in West Nile is a one year government project worth 4.6 billion undertaken by National Enterprise Corporation.
