UGANDA-SOUTH SUDAN LEADERS CALL FOR UNITY FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

The leadership of the two regions of Moyo and Kajokeji County in South Sudan have asked members of communities in Uganda and South Sudan to translate their decent boarder relationship to develop their economy.

Speaking in a function held in the district recently, the leaders emphasized that the good neighbor relationship of the two regions can be economically advantageous if communities embrace carrying out economic activities to boost standards of living.

Although it’s not the first time the leaders in Moyo district and Kajo keji county in south are calling for peaceful co-existence for economic independence of the people in the two areas.

Hon. Moriku Joyce Kaducu, the state minister for primary education who is also the Moyo district woman member of parliament, said through implementation of pan Africanism the path of economic growth for the two region is clear. “Uganda has laid strong foundation because of principle of pan Africanism, much as there is boarder between Uganda and South Sudan, Ugandans move freely to South Sudan to trade and South Sudanese as well move freely to trade.” Hon. Moriku said.

She urged communities of the two countries to embrace the pan Africanism and spirit of east African community to carry out economic activities among themselves.

Hon. Mawa A. Moses, the state minister for roads and bridges for central equatorial in South Sudan who led the delegation of South Sudan in Uganda remarked that Uganda has been home for South Sudanese for a very long time.  “Most of South Sudanese live in Uganda, got education here, and they feel at home because of good hospitality, we thank the people of Uganda for the hospitality which should now be turned to economic development.” Hon. Mawa said.
According to Mawa, the good relationship has been achieved because of good leadership of the two countries which he asked to continue.

Julius Sekamwa, the deputy Resident District Commissioner for Moyo district said this can be achieved when the two countries are united. “As we talk about east African block, the core thing is unity, the only way to succeed is been united, we cannot be disunited as neighbor, when we come together we shall be a strong economic block.” Sekamwa said.

Hon. Alero Tom Azza, the Member of Parliament for moyo district remarked that Uganda is where peace and unity is a priority.  “Uganda is where we promote unity, harmony peace and economic intergration and intergration for social economic and political progress for the member states of east African country.  South Sudanese are always welcomed for the economic growth of the people in the two neighboring countries. ” Hon. Alero said.

Amidst some insecurity incidents that continue happening at their boarder, leaders of Moyo and Kajokeji continue to struggle for free and peaceful movement through their boarder.
