The central organizing committee for Indriani pilgrimage has draft a budget of thirty five million seven hundred seventy three thousand, five hundred shillings (UGX; 35,773,500=). Moyo vicariate in Arua diocese has been chosen to lead this year’s celebration at Indriani holy cross pilgrimage center in Adjumani district.

Every year on 14 of September Catholics assemble to pray for varying intentions at Indriani pilgrimage center which is the birth place of catholic faith in madi sub region of Arua diocese.

Indriani situated in pakele Sub County, Adjumani district is known as the first spot where comboni missionaries settled in 1912 to evangelize the madi region on invitation of the then chief   Beka from south Sudan during the colonial regime.

Mr. Martin Izaruku, the chairperson Central organizing committee (COC) for the vicariate, explained that preparation are on high gear at all the parishes in the vicariate to have the day well organized.

However, he has appealed to Christians to support the central organizing committee for the success of the day. “As we prepare to animate the liturgy, we call upon everyone and institutions to join in supporting the day,’’ he urged.

According to the arch bishop of Gulu arch diocese His Grace Dr. john Baptist Odama is expected to be the main celebrant of the holy mass at the pilgrimage center.

Mr.  Nyerima Kevin the chapel catechist Maduga chapel also a lay apostolate coordinator Moyo parish said that the parish is organizing transport means as proposed for the pilgrims in the vicariate especially those who cannot trek if the funds will allow. He added that sensitization of Christians on faith is part of the preparation for the pilgrimage center emphasizing that it is time for the Christians to reflect on their faith

The acting parish priest, Moyo catholic parish Fr. Idrifua Richard explains that the theme for this year’s celebration is, holy cross, the source of eternal life derived from letter to the Hebrews chapter 5 vs. 9-10 where Christ in his obedience accepted suffering on the cross and his death made the cross perfect symbol of eternal salvation calling upon the Christians to strengthen their faith and reflect on the suffering of Jesus Christ on the cross.
