GULU CHRIST CHURCH CHOIR LAUNCHES FUNDRAISING DRIVE TO LOBBY FINANCIAL SUPPORT

The choir members under Christ Church choir Gulu in the Anglican diocese of Northern Uganda kicked off their preparations for the 6th international Hymns festival slated to take place from 26th to 28th October this year in the Tanzanian capital, Dodoma.

John Charles Luwar, the choir director is now appealing for support from well-wishers to facilitate the team to go and participate in this annual festival. “This year our expectations are really high because we are seriously preparing and our prayer is to come back with many trophies and be number one,” George Peleo one of the choir members,” stressed.

Bishop Emeritus of the Anglican diocese of Northern Uganda Benoni Y. Ogwal-Abwang, offered six hundred thousand (shs600, 000) during the launch of the fundraising drive.  “I am offering 600,000 for this event, you should know that hymns describe one’s journey with Christ and I don’t take this event lightly because I know its significance to the church.”

The hymns festival is being organized under the theme “Evangelizing East African communities through hymns of worship.”
Christ church has participated in the hymn’s festival since 2016. This festival brings together the Anglican choirs from the East African countries.

Last year Kenya hosted the event where Gulu Christ church choir took the second position.
