STAKEHOLDERS CONDEMN UGANDA REVENUE AUTHORITY URA IN ARUA.

Different stake holders in Arua city and District have strongly condemned the harsh and inhuman operations done by Uganda Revenue Authority URA in the recent days as they collect taxes especially from boda boda riders and smugglers in which at least two people have died one in Koboko Last week and One in Arua as two sustained serious injuries and are in Arua regional referral hospital for medical attention on Tuesday evening along Arua Kampala high way in Awindiri before reaching CEFORD.

Hon Atima lee the MP Arua central division condemned these actions saying, “The Manner in which URA officials here conduct business is not Human, It’s not friendly. We don’t support Smuggling, we support URA and Government in collecting taxes but the way the taxes are collected is not good” said Hon Jackson.
Debo Ronald the chairperson Uganda National chambers of commerce and industry Arua branch    added that, “The issue of rudimentary method of driving recklessly on the roads by URA, the use of too much force is making all our lives in Danger” said Atima

Hon Atiku Bernard former MP of greater Ayivu elaborated that, “Just two three days somebody was shot dead in Koboko, that Is not the first time, I remember 10 or more years somebody was short dead, people where angered up to a level of scooping blood and eating it, and now another one has happened here in Arua and URA is involved , another one was killed in Bondo, most of the victims are not smashers by the way, even this one here in Arua, they were after someday who took off through h the Corridors of Remah hospital, but the victims were innocent people, their motorcycle was even registered.” Hon Atiku elaborated.

The Commissioner General of URA in the Country Mr. John Musinguzi on a phone call interviewed said that, the personnel involved will be brought to book if found guilty. “This was very regrettable that we can loose such precious lives. If it so happened that it was due to indiscipline cases or whatever miss management from our side, we will handled it so that it never happens again. “Said Musinguzi.

The commissioner promised to be in Arua latest this Saturday to address the above issues in the most peaceful way possible.
