Two catholic Nuns of the sacred heart of Jesus at Moyo catholic parish have made perpetual profession vows, while three celebrated 25 years in the convent.  The two sisters who took vows are, Sr.Harriet Yesco of uleppi parish, Nebbi diocese and Sr.Night Facan of Panyimur Parish, Nebbi diocese.

The function that took place on 03rd /01/2024 at Maduga chapel, Moyo catholic parish under Arua diocese was attended by three Bishops including Dr.  John Baptist Odama of Gulu arch diocese, Rt. Rev. Raphael Wokorach, the Bishop of Nebbi catholic diocese, and Sabino ocan odoki, the ordinary of arua diocese.

While presiding over the mass, His lordship the ordinary Bishop of Arua diocese Sabino Ocan Odoki appreciated the parents of the Rev .sisters for offering their children to serve the church. “I would like to thank the parents of these sisters who have made it here to present their daughters to God which is not an easy thing to do ,to give your daughter to church to  serve  for  rest of her life is a life time commitment , a consecrated life ”, the bishop said  .

The bishop further said that the sisters have entered a permanent commitment to work for God to bring people to God and God to the people which he related to marriage vows that are meant to last forever.

Rt. Rev. Racheal wokorach, the bishop of Nebbi catholic diocese acknowledged that as St. Daniel comboni commissioned the sisters as pastoral agents, they should go and make the outreach more than the priests, urging the sisters to always have vision everywhere they go which will be very fruitful ministry. “I pray that all of you who have taken the vows, it’s not a trial vow when you take it we don’t expect you to return tomorrow, threw yourselves into water and swim fully with single a heart ,that’s  where the spirit of the sacred heart will be seen and appreciated”, the bishop emphasized  .

His grace, the Arch bishop of Gulu, Arch diocese Dr. John Baptist Odama urged the Rev. Sisters to live in truth to their vows in serving the lord calling upon Christians to pray for their success in service and also promote religious vocations. “I want to thank the sisters for promoting the heart of Jesus, which they should be drawing all humanity too without pretense but with truth. I’m encouraging parents to offer their children to the church whole heartedly not half way adding that some of those who have made final vows decide to leave saying they just come to pretend in front of God instead of being committed”, His grace pointed.

Consecrated life is a permanent state of life recognized by the Church, entered freely in response to the call of Christ to the perfection of love and characterized by the making of public vows of poverty, chastity and obedience.
