MUNI UNIVERSITY TAKES OVER ADMINISTRATION OF EREPI PRIMARY TEACHER’S COLLEGE.

Muni University has officially taken over the administration of Erepi PTC in Moyo district. The facility was handed over to Muni University on 15th January 2024. It’s in relation to the letter dated 9th Feb, 2023 by ministry of education and sports directing the university management to take over the institution which has been repurposed into a public awarding institution.

According to ministry of education, Erepi  PTC is among the 23  non-core PTCs across the country that were phased out in a bid to implement the 2019 national teacher policy resolution requiring all teachers to have Bachelor’s degrees.

Mr. Banya Emmanuel, the secretary who also doubles as the accounting officer of Muni University said the aspirations and expectations of people around the facility and other stakeholders will soon be achieved.  ‘In the regional council meeting we had here the whole thing came as proposal we never knew God has a big plan for humanity.  Today God has made that we are handing over the place as per the dreams we heard in the regional council’. The vice chancellor of Muni University Prof. Simon Anguma on behalf of the university management urged the stakeholders in the district to make very good use of the facility in pursue of the vision and mission statement of the university.

He noted that the objectives of the institution is to increase higher education to make it available to people as many as possible. “Repurposing this facility to us has actual made our work easy, you have facilitated us in the realization of that object, we would do everything possible within our capacity make excellent use of this facility for the greater good of all Ugandans”. He added

Mr. Ayita Joel, the chairperson governing council of muni university said, the main objective of repurposing the facility is to develop human resources appropriate for a decentralized system of governance. “As we are coming closure to the madi sub-region Muni University has been developing human resources in a number of districts in west Nile, our consultants in Muni have been going deep-down to this districts to help them to develop the capacities” . Ayita notifies 

Hon.  Anyama Williams, the Local council chairman of Moyo district local government together with district council pledged to mobilize students from neibouring country of south Sudan but also from the districts of Adjumani, Yumbe and Obongi to benefit from this facility.  “One thing I would request from muni university is that there are many names written on the blocks, others are relevant and others may not be relevant, we need to review!” he cautioned.

According to Mr. Okiror Max, the assistant commissioner for teacher education, training and development align with the guidelines from the permanent secretary. He added that all the assets and liabilities of the college will be handed over to muni university in case some places requests furniture not relevant for the training and they wish to utilize at primary schools   would be discussion between local government and university.

Muni University has now exited for 9 years. The university started in 2014 with two programs namely Information Technology but now it has a total of 32 programs in the main campus in Arua city.
