Her Worth Foundation a community based organization is planning a Menstrual Hygiene Run in Gulu city to support girls to stay in school.

Prudence Monica Apiyo, Her Worth Foundation`s executive director who doubles as secretary female youth affairs in Gulu city council is calling upon everyone to support this noble course. Apiyo, implores every stakeholder to get involved in the campaign of letting no girl remain behind.

David Ochan, a social worker and a researcher with Every Child Ministries says everyone in different walks of life is invited to support the course. He however disclosed that for one to take part in the run they should buy a vest for 30,000 shillings per vest and a T-shirt at 25,000 shillings, noting that the proceeds will be used for buying menstrual hygiene products like pads and sanitary towels which be distributed to school going girls.
Mr. Ochan added that they are also moving to schools to create awareness and also train young girls on how to produce re-usable sanitary pads.

Peace Alur, the communication officer at Umbrella of Hope, called on men to take the lead in the menstrual run for the comfort of their daughters during ovulation. She adds that their main target is to ensure that girls stay at school during their menstruation.

According to Alur, some young girls are living with their fathers without mothers and they don’t know how to use pads, therefore it is incumbent upon the men to come on board to learn and teach their daughters how to use sanitary pads.
The run is slated for 17th June 2023 in Gulu city.
