The education department of Arua Diocese is finding it difficult to run its activities after most of the Catholic founded Primary schools in the Diocese failing to submit the foundation money timely.

This was revealed by Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Asega, the Diocesan Education Secretary during an induction meeting organized on the roles of key foundation body members of learning institutions of the Diocese held at Aripea Primary school in Terego district.

According to him, most catholic founded schools across the Diocese are taking their own time to give the money. “Catholic Schools are centers of Christian formation and if you don’t want to pay the money, you should be removed because instruction has been given from Rome on how education in the world should proceed,” said Fr. Asega.

Meanwhile, the Parish priest of Yoro Parish Rev. Fr. Samuel Orionzi states that, much as they put effort as priests in making sure that the money is given, there are still other head teachers of some schools who limit their effort by not mobilizing learners to bring the money.

But Ezekiel Buatre, the CRE coordinator for Aripea Parish revealed that, it is true that many Catholic founded schools in the Parish have been reluctant in submitting the money but he assured that he will do a follow-up on the matter earnestly. “Truly some primary schools don’t pay the money but I am going to make sure that, they give the fund timely,” noted Ezekiel.

Foundation money is a fund where each education learner under the authority or person who founded that particular school gives a termly fund of about 500 shillings to support the education department of a Diocese.
