People gathered at the OPM grounds in Arua city on Women’s Day for the blood donation exercise

The people in West Nile are called upon to donate blood so as to save the lives of those who need blood in the health facilities. This appeal was made during a recent blood donation drive organized by radio Pacis and partners in Arua city.

Blood donation helps a lot in saving lives of expectant mothers during labor, accident victims, anemic children, and any other sick person that lacks blood, and yet there is no factory that manufactures blood, and this means it’s only got through donation.

Because of this, Radio Pacis took an initiative as a Corporate Social Responsibility to organize blood donation exercise with partners on women’s day to address the challenge of blood shortage at the regional blood bank since 2018.

From all Radio Pacis stations in Arua, Moyo and Gulu, nine hundred twenty five (925) units of blood were collected by the blood bank.

Gilbert Anguyo, the incharge of the regional blood bank affirms that, the turn up for this year’s exercise was massive and appreciates the community for that commendable response, and appeals to the community members to raise the turn up in the future donation drives. “We are seeing the motivation to donate is going up, we are ready to handle even more than that,” Anguyo said.

Ayuku Emmanuel from Rhino camp is one of the people, who turned up for this noble cause. He said saving life through blood donation is very important. “There is no factory that manufactures blood and since we are the ones to help one another, it’s important for us to donate, “said Ayuku.

Mary Joan Afoyorwoth, who donated for the fast time pledged to respond with a number of people in the future blood donations programs, due to the significance she has realized in it.

Silver Pariyo the Radio Pacis marketing manager on behalf of the station appreciated all the donors and partners who came on board to ensure the success of this noble exercise.

Blood can’t be manufactured, and those who lack blood in their body can only survive on the blood that is donated.
