Councilors and Sub county chairpersons in Terego district have been warned against absenteeism during district council sessions that leads to poor service delivery.

It is learnt that, non-appearance of councilors and other leaders during different council sittings in Terego district had been generally poor since its creation.
Terego district LC 5 chairperson Hon Wilfred Saka notes that, this issue is becoming beyond his anticipations. “The issue is real but are we doing something on this as leaders?" said Wilfred.

But Otim Benson Humphrey, the Chief Administrative officer of Terego says, meeting together helps to share ideas how best community can be served. “It helps us to share issues affecting the community and come up with their solutions to achieve our target". Humphrey noted.

However, the state minister for lands, housing and urban development Hon Obiga Mario Kania who also doubles as the Member of Parliament for Terego East Constituency appeals to the councilors to desist from the deed. “My only advice is, do a good job for the district because you are elected to come and deliver service for the people" Kania pleaded with the Councilors.

The Local Government Act about councilors absenteeism states that, when a council member fails to attend any meeting for six consecutive months from the date of his or her last attendance, he or she ceases to be a member of authority, unless the council accepts a reason for the failure to attend before the six months’ period expires.
