NUDIPU ROLES OUT INCLUSIVE EDUCATION IN MOYO DISTRICT

Education Stakeholders, members of moyo district disabled persons union, and staff of Moyo secondary school, the piloting school for inclusive education at secondary level are undergoing a training on implementation of inclusive education especially at secondary level.

The training started on Wednesday 20th of March, 2024. It will focuses on school inclusion team (SIT) and role of inclusive education coordinator IECO.
Mr. Isingoma Pigabuwa James, a curriculum specialist and a national principle trainer of inclusive education says they are ready to stand to support in inclusive education program. “We shall help them in developing a strong sheet which will oversee activities of inclusive education within the school and will comprise of deferent stakeholders.” Mr. Isingoma said

Mr. Isingoma added that they also help to form school inclusive education coordinator IECO will directly manage and coordinate activities of the School Inclusive Team (SIT) within the school.  

This targets school administration, teachers, non- teaching staffs and political leaders under persons with disabilities.

Mrs. Sera Leah Diana who works with NUDIPU says this is to bridge the literacy gap in the community. “The community has not yet been responsible in bringing their children in secondary school, what we are advocating for is for the community to play their role bring their children to school and get formal education.” Mrs. Sera Leah said. Mrs. Sera Leah added that Moyo secondary school will take on the learners as long as they qualify to go for secondary education.
 
Mr. Vukoni Robert, the chairperson for moyo district disabled persons union MODDIPU an umbrella union for the disabled in the district noted that they have chosen Moyo senior secondary school because the school in the central part of the district which is easily accessed by neighboring people from south Sudan and others. Mr. Vukoni added that major aim is to ensure persons with disability learn, continue with their education and can advance further.

Mrs. Andrua Harriet the district inspector of schools says this will add their effort in the fight for inclusive education in schools.  “It is our pride as Moyo district local government if everybody goes back with knowledge of inclusive education and implement it, it will make work easy for us because those are areas we also look at critically that each learner is treated equally regardless of his/her status.” Mrs. Andrua said.

The inclusive education project is implemented by NUDIPU through moyo district disabled person union and funded by Norwegian association of disabled.
