The construction works at the West Nile Regional Juvenile reception and protection house in Arua Central Business district is nearing completion ready for handover and commissioning.

The 195 million shillings project undertaken by Save Children, was contracted to South-Building Investments Limited as the project contractor for the 6 months project with funding from the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Japan.

Speaking to Albert Anguzu, the site engineer for the project, he says mush o the works expected have already been done especially on the main building with other works ongoing to ensure the project is ready for commissioning. “The office is generally complete, finishes were all done, but due to the need arising, we could not handover the facility without some of the necessities like bathroom. Toilet was already in place, so we were asked to out up a 3 roomed bathroom which is in the process of finishes and by next week we shall be doing the painting. We have the water harvesting system already worked on, pavement of the walk ways is being done and these are the issues that led to the delay. The delays are coming from the side of the organization.

However, the site engineer Anguzu maintains that, amidst some of the few challenges faced and the additional works, the project can be ready for commissioning early next month. “Technical challenges are there and we have had challenges in change in Weather especially when it rains which have been delaying the woks. As contractors, ours is to do our best in terms of quality and cost effectiveness and I can give the assurance that by the second week of May, the works would have been completed and the project ready to be commissioned” Anguzu added.

The West Nile Regional Juvenile reception and protection house located at Arua central Business police station barracks comprises of 5 rooms as offices and a reception room.
