ARCHBISHOP EMERITUS ODAMA LAUNCHES RENOVATION OF CLASSROOM BLOCK SUPPORTED BY OBS

Arch Bishop emeritus of the Arch Diocese of Gulu His Grace Dr. John Baptist Odama has officially launched a classroom block renovation project at St Josephs’S Primary School in Gulu city.
 
The project is estimated at one hundred and sixty-three million, one hundred thirty-four thousand six hundred Uganda shillings for its completion (163,004,600shs).
 
This event which took place at St. Joseph Primary school Gulu city on March 20, 2024 started with the Holy Mass led by Archbishop emeritus His Grace Dr. John Baptist Odama the retired Arch Bishop of the Gulu Archdiocese.
 
Godfrey Ojok, from Gulu City Engineering Department said on the 21st January this year, the office of city Engineer sent a team at St. Joseph Primary School to carry out an assessment to find out the structural condition of the building. ‘’On the 21st of January 2024, office of the city engineer sent a team here to follow the assessment to find out structural condition of the very building and we concluded in the report for the following to be done; the floor, the windows wall both internal and external, damages on the roof plaster and rendering. In the bill of quantity, we have a detailed all the cost for this work is going to be one hundred and sixty-three million, one hundred thirty-four thousand six hundred Uganda shillings’’

The class room block set for renovation

Iren Ajok, the head teacher St. Joseph Primary School Gulu city appreciated the Alumni St. Joseph Primary School citing that the building they are using as classrooms are not conducive enough for both teaching and learning. ‘’If you move in some of this building that the children are using today, it’s not conducive enough for both teaching and learning. Am really very happy that the OBs of St. Joseph primary school have come up to give a helping hand to the school that has made them who they are today.’’

Jimmy Oneka-lit, an OB St. Joseph Primary School disclosed that as OBs and OGs, their target is to pull out 10million for the renovation.
 
The Arch Bishop emeritus of the Arch Diocese of Gulu retired Dr John Baptist Odama says he would love to see all the promising words made by the Alumni of St. Joseph Primary school in action.
 
St. Joseph Primary School was among the first primary schools to be founded by Catholic and in Gulu Arch Diocese it was the first School in 1921. St. Joseph Primary School is currently having a total enrollment of only 357 learners.
