The Administrators of Gulu Regional referral Hospital are optimistic and prepared to start using the computerized Tomography scan machine (CT SCAN MACHINE) received by the hospital last year in November.

Since then, the machine which was fully installed has been not working, Dr Peter Mukobi, Gulu reginal referral hospital director says that there was a delay from the Atomic Energy council that regulates the device that made them not to start using the machine immediately but now they are set to operationalize the machine in early July after the Atomic Energy Council recently certified the operationalization of the machine.

Dr. Mukobi acknowledged that the delay by the Atomic Energy Council was however, a blessing in disguise because it helped them to train the staff to operate the machine. According to Mukobi, the machine shall be investigating both what is in the hard and soft tissues in the body parts of patients that were very hard to be seen by the use of an x-ray machine.

Godfrey Kintu Tizajira, the senior radiographer at Gulu regional referral hospital disclosed that the machine has a capacity to carry out investigations on as many patients as possible in a day because of its efficiency and sophisticated technology.

Betty Aol Ochan, the woman member of parliament for Gulu city during her visit at the facility expressed gratitude to the government of Uganda for installing such a much-needed machine at Gulu Regional Referral hospital. She said that the hospital staff should now be able to examine every patient who requires the services of rendered by the machine.

This CT Scan machine is one of those that were delivered to 14 regional referral hospitals across the country by the government in November last year.
Computed tomography Scan commonly referred to as  CT scan is a diagnostic imaging procedure that uses a combination of x-rays and computer technology to produce images of the inside the body.
