PARENTS IN REFUGEE SETTLEMENT URGED TO NURTURE THEIR CHILDREN

Parents in obongi district have been urged to take the responsibilities of children as they prepare them to be productive citizens for the next generation. The call was made while celebrating belated day of African child held in Morobi zone ii, Palorinya refugee’s settlement, Obongi district under the theme “THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD IN THE DIGITAL ERA”.
 
Mr Siraji Karala Karala, the local council three chairperson Itula Sub County noted mistreatment of children by parents as a great challenge affecting the growth and development of children at community level. “Majority of the rights of the African children are abused. Many are not being sent to school by the parents, because they are always in the gardens,” Siraji Pointed.

He added that he felt victimized to see young children carrying 20 litters of Jerrcan with water. “My consciousness is always been disturbed to see children staving in the community,” the chairperson lamented. He appealed to parents to support their children since they are the next generation that will stand to develop the nation.       
 
Mrs Nadoku Radia education secretary for Zone II says they are on their toes as refugees’ leaders to ensure no child is left behind in education. “As leaders we have a structure in the education system called Village education community that aims to address the education challenges at all levels in the communities,” she remarked. 
 
But Mr Chris Egola who represented the partner’s during the occasion stressed inadequate resource envelop due to the outbreak of COVID19 to support both the refugee and the host communities.
