Poultry farmers in West Nile region are called upon to give enough time for their business, and make use of good management practices, in order to realize progress in the business.

This appeal was made at the one day training organized by Omia agri-business development group for poultry farmers at the premises of Arua District Farmers Association in Arua city. The free training covered all the major areas of poultry farming.

Iganaci Razak Omia, the CEO and the founder of Omia agri- business development group said their main aim is to promote farmers production. “Our work is always to make sure that farmers have access to agricultural inputs, they have access to extension services.” said Iganaci.

Vet Doctor Demos Agamba Pariyo training farmers on poultry management

Demos Agamba Pariyo, a veterinary doctor with Omia agri- business says, good management practices are essential for any poultry farm to realize progress. “Poultry is a good business, poultry business requires time, it requires attention, when you have time and attention, you will be able to carefully identify the challenges your poultry business is facing, “Demos noted.

This training attracted a good number of poultry farmers from different parts of West Nile and Democratic Republic of Congo. Hadija Ali, a poultry farmer in Arua, who also benefited from the training appreciates Omia agri- business for the program, and believes with the knowledge acquired, her poultry farm will expand, “As I have come, I have got much information, I have got the knowledge of how I can treat my birds in cases of sicknesses.”Hadija said.

Poultry business is a profitable business, but very few people still embrace it in West Nile region.
