YOUTH IN GULU ARCHDIOCESE URGED TO LIVE MORALLY UPRIGHT LIFE

The chancellor of the Archdiocese of Gulu Reverend Father. Martin Agwee has implored the youth to desist from doing things that may impede them from attaining spiritual purity as God`s chosen people.

The chancellor made the appeal while closing the 15th edition of the annual Youth Festival that attracted 235 members of Christian Youth Missionary Group (CYMG) from 28 schools both secondary and tertiary institutions across Gulu vicariate.

According to, Fr. Martin Agwee, practices like hospitality, faith, prayers, compassion alongside maintaining virginity help the youth to remain Holy in their journey of faith.

Fr. Agwee, also warned the youth against body tattooing and the other forms of body piercing which he says may have negative health consequences on them.

Emmanuel Tukuru, one of the CYMG members urges his fellow youth to live a prayerful life and also asks them to join the various church associations which he thinks help them to be engaged in spiritually nourishing activities to that will keep the away from temptations of this world.

Meanwhile, Brenda Fasie Apiyo, a student of Amuru High School also a CYMG members challenges her fellow CYMG members to show charity to the elderly and other vulnerable people in their areas as one of the ways of putting their faith in action. On the other hand, Erick Olanya a student of St. Joseph’s College Layibi thinks that the sacrament of penance can help one to attain purity.

Claudia Maria Piffer one of the Comboni missionary sisters thinks that living a spiritually pure life makes one to attain absolute freedom against bodily temptations, citing how Jesus Christ lived his life when he was on earth where he demonstrated things like personal reflections, sacrament of reconciliation and prayers that she implored the students to emulate.

The 15th festival was organized on the theme, ‘I prefer to die than to sin’ a word from St. Maria Goretti.
