The ongoing one-week cataract surgical Camp at St. Mauritz Health Centre III in Laroo-Pece division Gulu city is progressing on well with minimal challenges according to Irene Lamwaka, the general facility in charge.

Lamwaka, says that they are being overwhelmed with high number of cataract patients, adding that they are now faced with the challenge of accommodation especially for patients who are coming from outside Gulu city.

Lamwaka, also said that they have been forced to increase the surgical fee from one hundred thousand shillings (100,000) to one hundred fifty thousand shillings (150,000) as a result of the high of costs of consumables they use on the patients.

Margret Acan Olanya, a patient whose eye has been operated on expressed excitement as she hopes that she will be able to once again see normally.  Acan, also said she was happy with the good reception and the kindness of the doctors who worked on her.

She believes that this time round her eyes will be worked on and she will be able to see again.
