The old students of Sacred Heart Seminary Lacor in Gulu Archdiocese, have finally formed their old students` association called Lacor Seminary Old Boys Association with the primary objectives of improving academic performance of the students and supporting the school.

Dr Lugemoyi Wilfred Omondi, a senior lecturer at Uganda Management Institute who is the president of the association says their association will help promote continuous spiritual enrichment of the members of the association in line with the doctrine of the Catholic Church where they will continue living both morally and spiritually upright. “This association of ours will also be able to mobilize resources to accomplish its set objectives”, he added.

John Odong, the vice president of the association based in Kitgum vicariate says that the initiative is going to bring together both ordained priests who went through this school and the ex-seminarians who failed to make it to the order of priesthood. “We are doing this to primarily support the young seminarians in their journey towards becoming priests”, he noted.

Issac Ocitti, the secretary of Information and Publicity for the Association remarked that members shall have to pay their subscription fees. “I expect members to pay their subscriptions fully in three months’ time for them to be registered members of the association”, he said.

Sacred Heart seminary Lacor has been able to produce a number of priests and bishops including, Dr. John Baptist Odama the Archbishop of Gulu archdiocese, the late Bishop Martine Luluga of Arua diocese, the late Bishop Ceaser Asili of Lira diocese, Bishop Sabino Ocan Odoki of Arua diocese, Bishop Lino Wanok of Lira, among others.

The Association now has over 200 members with five leadership structures tasked with the responsibility of fostering the best possible ways to develop and support the seminary using their association.
