MINISTER MAO CALLS FOR UNITY IN DIVERSITY DURING HOMECOMING EVENT IN GULU CITY

Honorable Norbert Mao, the Justice and Constitutional Affairs minister used his homecoming event held at Kaunda grounds in Gulu city to focus on preaching peace and unity among Ugandans of all walks of life. “A tree cannot fight against its own roots, I maybe a tree but I have roots and my roots are here in Gulu, I am Norbert Mao of Gulu”, the minister asserted.

Minister Mao also used the event that attracted thousands of revelers to clarify on his homecoming event saying he has been away for 12 years. “I call it homecoming because I`m now back on the ground, I have been away for 12years and I have been seeing a lot of things happening, so Mao is back, and I`m going to be mobilizing and I`m going to move not only in Acholi but allover Uganda preaching unity because what we have done is unity of purpose,” Mao said.

Richard Todwong, National Resistance Movement party general secretary said minister Mao, didn’t cross from Democratic party to NRM but he only signed a memorandum of cooperation to work with government of Uganda that is led by NRM. “Mao didn’t cross from DP to NRM, he only signed memorandum of cooperation to work with government of Uganda which is being led by NRM party,” he noted.

Honorable Thomas Tayebwa the deputy speaker of parliament who was one of the special guests at the function thanked Minister Mao for being among one of the people who still believe in seeing a united Uganda. “As parliament we shall support every endeavor from a legislative perspective that will bring unity in this country and make all of us work together”, he pledged.

General Salim Saleh, the chief national coordinator for Operation Wealth Creation program said he is happy that NRM and DP are back together because the two parties were in partnership even before. “The two parties have been working together before”, he revealed.

Alhaji Moses Kikongo, the first national vice chairperson of NRM who represented President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at the event as the chief guest thanked Minister Norbert Mao for choosing to work with NRM and the people who love peace and want to develop this country to move forward. “Hon Mao is a steady fast person and he loves Uganda that’s why we are with him”, said Alhaji Kikongo.

On July 20th, 2022, The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party signed a working cooperation agreement with the Democratic Party (DP) at State House, Entebbe where President Yoweri Museveni, also the National Chairman of NRM, signed on behalf of the party, while DP President General, Hon. Nobert Mao, signed on behalf of DP that culminated into the appointment of honourable Norbert Mao as the Justice and Constitutional Affairs minister.
