NORTH WEST NILE POLICE OFFICERS CAUTIONED AGAINST UNETHICAL CODE OF CONDUCT DURING PIPPING CEREMONY

Police in North West Nile Region have been tasked to embrace professionalism while on duty. This appeal was made during a piping ceremony for North West Nile region for promoted officers on Thursday last week in Moyo town where ten (10) police officers from the region were promoted to different ranks in the recent country wide promotion.

Speaking during the ceremony at Aquila’s Garden, Mr. Julian Sekamwa, the Moyo Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) who was the chief gust urged the promoted officers to embrace professionalism as a key tool for career development but also to avoid getting into problems with the law or the local community. “Let us follow our code of conduct, the world is very dynamic, Very many things are changing if you do not get well updated on the happens within the country as things happen, the laws and policies will change as the time goes by,” Julian said.  He has encouraged the officers to be updated in order to remain relevant in the current planet.

ACP Denis Okuja Peterson, the North West Nile Regional Police Commander (RPC) warned that the promotions have come with additional responsibilities. He warned the officers against drinking alcohol while on duty. This follows other incidents where officers in uniform have been found drunk in the communities even at their duty stations. “You been an officer does not mean that you should drink alcohol while in uniform, you can drink but it should be on off duty so that you maintain the good public relation between police as an institution and local people in the community’’, RPC revealed.

Honorable Alero Tom Aza, the Area Member of Parliament of Moyo West County has called for continuous piece in North West Nile region. He commented the force for ushering a total peace amidst some isolated cases in the sub region. “For instance peace in the refugee’s settlement and along the common borders with south Sudan, Amuru and the entire Madi Sub region actual police has done tremendous job” Aza added. He encouraged the officers to carry the same sprit for the sanctity in the sub region.       

Mr. Williams Anyama, the chairperson Moyo district council added that through the district local government, they have secured a piece of land to relocate the current police barrack to decongest area but also for improved service delivery to the local population.

He added that the barrack will be affected by two road projects that are coming up especially the koboko-Yumbe-Moyo road, and the Laropi-Afoji -Jala road will eat some parts of the barrack land which will their operations as a force.

However, Joseph Mwseige who represented the newly promoted officers revealed that the promotion was will of God saying some officers have worked in the force for decades without been promoted.
