Youth leaders in West Nile region under the Forum for Democratic Change FDC party have distanced themselves from the planned nationwide protest by all the youths seeking for the party president Patrick Oboi Amuriat and the party general Nandala Mafabi to step down from the party leadership over failure to declare the source of funds the party used during the 2021 election.

On Tuesday 25th July, 2023, a section of youth leaders addressed the media in Katonga over the ongoing in-fights in FDC party where they declared to conduct a nationwide protest on Friday.

While addressing the media in Arua city, Onzima George the FDC party youth chairman for Madi Okollo district revealed that as West Nile they are not part of the youths who gathered at Katonga. “There are people who have been influenced and they are now causing unrest to this country. The youths who gathered in Katonga, we are not part of them as youths of West Nile. If there is anything to do with money, it shouldn’t be discussed in the public domain, When we had elections no one questioned for the source of the money,” Onzima angrily said.

Edema David one of the party leader from Arua city says as West Nile the have called for the resignation of the party spokesperson Hon. Semujju Nganda as he has misconducted himself against the party rule. “Semujju has misconducted himself by going to conduct a press conference in a place which is not designated for the party, he is misleading Ugandans. So we have called for his resignation as West Nilers and that is our stand and if not, we are not going to recognize him as the party spokesperson.” Edema disclosed.

Meanwhile Musema Swali the FDC party chairperson for Terego district says as the party they have the capacity to finance their activities. “If FDC is badly in need of money, will never run to go and get money from NRM. We have party members who started funding the party right from the start. For FDC to borrow money from NRM, it’s like we have failed to understand our capacity,” Musema revealed.

Similarly, Natasha Moseka the FDC youth spokesperson for Arua city affirms that money shall not split them from the party as West Nile Youths. “It is Besigye who is picking money from Museveni to divide us in FDC, he abandoned us in 2021, and we suffered. We are not going to follow people who are trying to divide us, nothing that people are going the divide us with money, money is nothing to us,” Moseka said.

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) is in turmoil after a large section of the party leadership came out last week to accuse party president Patrick Oboi Amuriat and secretary general Nathan Nandala Mafabi of working hand in glove with President Museveni.
