Arua Central division has petitioned the office of the minister for presidency demanding for transfer of the Arua city resident commissioner Alice Akello.

In a letter dated 03^rd August 2023, Arua Central division petitioned the minister of presidency Hon. Milly Babalanda demanding Alice Akello to be moved away as Arua RCC on allegations of defending corrupt officials, failing to work with her deputies and other security agencies, unfair resource allocation, i.e. road fund and schools facilitation grant, unfair recruitment exercise by the city service commission, continuous threats and chasing of people from her office, and being part of a mafia clique headed by the deputy city clerk Arua.

Hon. Osuga Rashul the Arua central division speaker says it’s better for Arua city to operate without RCC other than have Alice Akello. “RCC Akello is always working alone, you will wonder if she is an angel. If the president doesn’t listen to us I think by 2026 we are about to make a decision, if there is nobody in the capacity of RCC than madam Alice Akello, Arua city better operates without a resident city commissioner”, Rashul said.

Hon. Lomori Victor the deputy speaker of Arua central division accused the RCC of her poor working relationship which he said has made locals lose confidence in her office. “If there issues of corruption, we must address them we must call it out.

Unfortunately if you call out corruption they will say you look at these small boys not knowing we are honorable members. We want somebody who can work, liaise, and partner with local leaders even the Local council chairpersons of the central division do not want to work with her office”, Lomori disclosed. 
 
But Alice Akello the accused RCC refutes the allegations describing them as trash. “That is trash; I don’t condone corruption in anyway. Am a principled lady of integrity, nobody will intimidate me, politicians want me to dance to their tune am not ready to do that.

I am the representative of the president, my roles are very clear some politicians are using hooligans who are drunk to mess around whoever doubts my leadership does not know what he is talking about. Whatever petition against me is rubbish let it be on record”, Akello disproved.
