ST. ANDREWS COLLEGE MOYO CELEBRATES 18Th ANNIVERSARY

St Andrews College Moyo, one of the best schools in Madi sub region has celebrated 18 years of academic excellence. The celebration that included inauguration of new student’s leaders was held on 28/09/2023 at the school premises under the theme ‘‘consolidating our gains to reach greater horizons’’.

The event was attended by hundreds of students of the school, including old students, parents, religious and political leaders, teachers from the sister schools to appreciate efforts of those behind the excellent performance of the school.

Among other activities that featured in the celebration were swearing in and handover of prefects, awarding of best performing students, and welcoming of new students. The school started in 2006 with an enrollment of 47 students from S.1-S.3 classes under the leadership of Maiku Daniel the first principal.

While delivering his welcome speech at the celebration, Mr. Tadare Mark Maiku the local council one chairperson of moipi olia village applauded the students of the school for high level of discipline and good performance with the aid of the teachers.

Mr. Edema Samson, The PTA chairperson of the school remarked that new strategies of improving performance of students have been developed particularly in English which according to him has been a challenge among the learners. ‘Last year there were close to 100 students who got fast grade but English remains a challenge, because the learners don’t practice English speaking while at school which has had a negative result on their performance,” he said.

Mr. Unzima Julius the representative of old students’ of the school requested the students to stay focused and keep the light in the school as stated in the school motto (education for  moral values), he has appealed to them to desist from behaviors that can affect their performance such as escaping from school without permission from the school administration.

Mr. Mawa Patrick, the principal of the school appreciated parents for believing and supporting the school in nurturing the students. Mawa has encouraged the administration of the school to continue having good teacher and parent working relationship for the best academic glory.

Professor Amegovu Andrew the director of the school, challenged parents to invest in the education of the children as a means to liberate the people from the economic hardships facing them.

The school currently has a student’s enrollment of 697 from senior one to senior six.
