Preparations to receive learners for the new academic year is in high gear in most of the schools in Arua City. A number of schools have already held PTA meetings to pave way to receive learners. Most of the schools within Arua City expect to start   admitting learners on 8th. January. 2024.

Michael Ogwang a business man and a parent calls upon fellow parents to work extra hard and focus on sending their children back to school once schools reopen. ”Right now, the festivities, lets now start thinking of school fees, how are we prepared to send our children to school, I’m now thinking of sending my children back to school,  Ogwang emphasized.”

The fees structures in most of the schools visited have not changed much from that of the previous year.
However, Rose Munduni a concerned parent is asking government to come up with a stringent policy to regulate and harmonize a uniform payment of fees structures in all the institutions of learning.

School administrators are set to receive learners to kick start the new academic year, however Amos Droma the Deputy Head Teacher of Christ the king primary school noted that the pupils will first undergo screening in the areas of academics and health status  before being admitted into school. “We are prepared to receive them, but in the interest of receiving them we usually do for a child to be registered in the next class we need a report of the previous class to ascertain whether the child passed or not”.

At Ediofe Boys Primary School, the Head Teacher Victor Alioni is optimistic that the school is ready to receive back the learners given that the time table for conducting schemes of work is already drawn.

The new school calendar is out. It shows that schools will start on Monday February 5th 2024 and  carry with studies until May 3 2024 lasting 89 days, then term  II will commence on May 27th 2024 also lasting 89 days and ending on august 23rd 2024.
