35-SECONDARY SCHOOLS FROM GULU VICARIATE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CHRISTIAN YOUTH FESTIVAL

The annual youth festival organized by Comboni Missionary Animation team has kicked off with the arrival of representatives from the 35-schools drawn from Gulu vicariate.

A maximum of 350-members of Christian youth missionary groups from secondary schools and other institutions are expected to participate in this religious event that started on 30th June 2023 and will run up to the 2nd July at Comboni Missionary Animation Centre at St Joseph`s Cathedral parish headquarters in Gulu city.

Reverend sister Claudia Maria Piffer, one of the Comboni Missionary sisters says that the theme for the festival is derived from the word of St. Maria Goretti who said “I prefer to die than to sin by being married to Alexander thus committing Adultery". St. Maria Goretti was then stabbed fourteen times to death. 

Emmanuel Tokuru a member of Christian youth missionary group(CYMG) from Bobi community polytechnic in Omoro district together with other participants are preparing Drama on life of St. Clement who gave the ultimate sacrifice for his life to protect his soul and show his love for God.

Priscilla Lalela the chairperson Bright Valley schools in Gulu city says they are equally preparing Drama and poem on the life of Aloysius Gonzaga an Italian aristocrat who became a member of the Society of Jesus,He was beatified in 1605 and canonized in 1726.

The festival will feature presentations in forms of songs, poems and dramas according to the lives of the saints selected by each school.
This Annual youth festival started in 2007 with just only 12 schools within 2-chapels under Holy Rosary Parish in the Archdiocese of Gulu but now it is covering the whole Gulu Vicarate.
