Acholi province beat Teso province by a goal to nil in a very highly contested first leg match group played at Bomah grounds in Kitgum municipality.
Paykan football striker Tito Okello who also plays for South Sundanese national team scored the lone goal of the game in the first half from a well curved a cross from Bidco Bul fc defender Walter Ochora in the 19^th minute of the game.

Teso province players posed a lot of threat in the second half of the game, however, they were not clinical enough to cause any harm to Acholi Province team alias “Kodi pa Lyeci-The Elephants”

Acholi province head coach Geoffrey Akena, was very happy and full of appreciation, “we thank FUFA, we thank the fans and our opponents, we are happy for the result and we look forward to the next game,” he said.

Teso province assistant coach Martin Wolama conceded defeat and promised to bounce back. “It was a very good game for us but we didn’t use our chances well, we had some defensive errors and we shall go back and correct and bounce back better next time”, he said.

Acholi province`s striker Okello Tito was awarded the man of the match that eventually earned him one hundred thousand shillings (100,000) cash and an accolade.

Teso province hosts Ankole province on the 22^nd July 2023 at Soroti stadium, while Acholi province will wait until 29^th July 2023 when they visit Ankole province for their second group stage game in a venue yet to be confirmed.
