Muni university, West Niles only public university is set to hold her 6th graduation ceremony on 6th April 2024, at the University’s graduation grounds.

Muni university is the 6th public university, established under statutory instrument number 31 of 2013 and began operating on 4th November 2014.

Speaking during a press conference held at the university’s council hall on Tuesday April 2, 2024 ahead of the graduation, Associate Professor, Anguma Simon Katrini, the University’s Vice Chancellor says, much as the university continues to have a low enrollment, there is hope for this to change soon.

“I have always faced the challenge of being asked the question of why the number of students graduating annually are always low. Comparatively that is true but this is translated to the number of programs we graduate the students from. This academic year we are running 30 programs and that means 3 years from now, these numbers will change because we shall be graduating students from all the 30 programs. However, the preparations for the forthcoming graduation are in high gear and we are envisioning a colorful ceremony come Saturday 6th April 2024,” Ass. Prof. Katrini said.

The university’s second council had made it a policy that the university’s graduations should be held on every 4th of November to commemorate the day the university began operating but this has not been implemented due to the Covid-19 interruptions, though the university is considering starting observing the same in the near future.

Emmanuel Natal Banya, the University Secretary and Accounting Officer says, the university being the only public university in the region has continued to gradually shape learning in the region.

According to Stella Amandu Wawa, the dean of students at the university, the increase in enrolment is a factor she attributes to public trust in the university.

The students will be graduating from 7 academic programs including Bachelor of information systems BIS, bachelor of science in information technology, bachelor of science with education, bachelor of nursing science, bachelor of business administration and management, post graduate diploma in financial management, and for the first time the university will have graduations for master in which some students will graduate with masters of education in educational planning and management.

This year’s graduation, will make a total of 782 graduates produced by the university since its inception.
