The central organizing committee (COC) for the visit of His Excellency president Museveni to Madi sub region particularly in Obongi district has said over hundred thousand people from the three districts of obongi, Moyo and Adjumani district have been mobilized to interact with president on Thursday 13^th April 2023 at Lionga boma ground in obongi town council.

President Museveni is for national tour campaigning for ideological change for wealth creation at household level to end poverty in the communities. He started his three days tour in west Nile region on 11^th April 2023 in arua city and will end on 13^th April 2023 in obongi district Madi sub region. According to the central organizing committee (COC) for Madi sub region, all is set for the day.

Hajji Habib Buga Hkemis, the chairperson obongi district council says all is done to host the president for the first time since obongi was given a district status. He said all the district chairpersons, members of parliament (PMs), Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) and the different structures of national resistant movement (NRM) Party have been active in mobilizing masses.

Hon. Maneno Zumura, Obongi district woman Member of Parliament said the huge mobilization is because president’s visit in the sub region is non-political but for wealth creation. She notes that as Madi sub region they have issues that are affecting development which president needs to know. “If we issues party as NRM, we shall write to the secretary general and meet president in state house not here because he is coming specifically for wealth creation” she lamented. Maneno adds: “this time the visit is for everyone course he is coming to see how far we have grown economically with the introduction of Emyooga and parish development Model (PDM) among others”.

Before addressing a roll at lionga Boma ground, president will visit two model farmers namely comboni missionaries in palorinya Sub County who are doing value addition in sun flower processing, he will visit the farm of Mr. Tom Abraham who has invested in growing cassava,  mangoes and banana before heading to commission obongi district local government headquarter offices.

Mr. Mpibanza Samuel, obongi Resident District Commissioner (RDC) remarked that president’s visit in the sub region will have an impact particularly in obongi district where corruption is the order of the day. He recently they arrest other members of groups who corrupted Emyooga funds including contractors who have done shoddy work on the DHO’s office and a store at the district headquarters.

According to the RDC, “government has done a lot of investment in the area, but impact or result has remained minimal in the community because of extortion by some individuals in the district in the name of service delivery which is without result”.  He has called for teamwork to avert the growing number of challenges in the community.

Hon. Evelyn Anite, the state minister of investment and privatization said the visit of the president is a blessing for the people of Madi as government recognized it as a sub region saying the visit is aimed at seeing the seed of wealth creation. “Northern Uganda is the most list developed region in the country, and he needs to understand why? Our master’s session will be interactive. He will not ask you the leaders, he is going to ask the local person in the village. For instance have you received PDM funds and if the answer will be no, I don’t know what the master will do to you as a leader” she remarked.

Anite adds that every chief administrative officer in the sub region will be asked a question because he wants to understand infrastructure and service delivery issues among all government development programs. “Why is it that there some few people who are eating the money. There people who are in Emyooga, PDM, NUSAF I, II, III and even when NUSAF 10 they will be there because everything is you” she argued.
Over fifty million shillings (UGX: 50,000,000) is injected in obongi district to mobilizing the masses.
