After their beautification in 2002, Christians are being urged to intensify prayers for miraclus attributions to Blessed Daudi Okello and Jildo Irwa so that they may be canonized by Vatican.

The rector of Paimol Martyrs’ Fr. Joseph Okumu encourages the youth to pray and make pilgrimage to wii-polo so that they encounter Heroic attributes by Daudi and Jildo and blessed Joseph Ambrosoli. “I recall when celebrating centenary of their martyrdom in 2018, I implored the youth across the region to unceasingly pray for your age mates for the last miracles so that Daudi and Jildo are canonized” Fr joseph okumu said.

Fr. Joseph Okumu also implores women to pray healing hands through the Blessed Martyrs. Ambassador Olara Otunu one of the pilgrims that has ever paid pilgrimage thinks some practices exhibited by Christians like love and unity shall relieve the Holy land.

The archbishop of Gulu John Baptist Odama said Jildo and Daudi encountered missionaries in 1915 who got baptized in 1916, 1917 Daudi and Jildo accepted to go and catechize in Paimol where they were killed in 1918. Archbishop is hopeful that Daudi Okello and Jildo Irwa shall be canonized anytime soon.

Last month the apostolic Nuncio to Uganda Archbishop Luigi Bianco paid pilgrimage to the martyr’s shrine in Agago district. During the Apostolic visit to Gulu archdiocese on 22/3/2022, Nuncio implores Christians to practice charity, prayer and self-sacrifice in the light of the gospel values.

In official Church procedures there are three steps to sainthood: a candidate becomes "Venerable," then "Blessed" and then "Saint." Venerable is the title given to a deceased person recognized formally by the pope as having lived a heroically virtuous life or offered their life.
