Makerere University passes out 13 students from West Nile after 3-Months Administrative Law Course

The College of Education and External Studies, Centre for Lifelong Learning at Makerere University has awarded certificate to 13 students from West Nile region after completing 3-months studies in administrative law.

These students include civil servants and staff of Non-Governmental Organizations, who received both theoretical and practical training in introduction to law, constitution law, administrative authorities, administrative procedure, criminal law and criminal procedure.

One of the students, Pamela Masudio says, this enhances her capacity of management as an administrator. “It has opened up my mind in aspects of how to handle human resource at work place especially on staff contract and staff grievances; my mind is now broadened on these issues” Pamela says.

According to Emmanuel Dramadri, a staff of Madi-Okollo District Local Government, the training equipped him to perform his duties more professionally. He says as a social worker, the knowledge gained will make his work easy after obtaining more tools in the 3-months of training.

Although Covid-19 disrupted study programs at this and other education institutions across the country, the Centre Coordinator for Arua, Henry Baiga remains hopeful that more intakes and programs will be will be introduced. “We have been having only 2 intakes in a year because of Covid-19 but now since the economy is fully opened, our target is to have 3 intakes in a year” he confidently revealed.

However, the National Coordinator of Centre for Lifelong Learning at Makerere University, Dr. Oscar Mugula encourage public to consider these education courses to better their performance at work. He notes that “these course is part of professional development”.
This set of students awarded started their course in November last year and conclude in February this year, new intake is expected to start in May.
