Obongi district projects to use 22.5 billion in the financial year 2023/2024

Obongi district local government council has laid a draft budget estimate of 22 billion, five hundred seventy four million four hundred fifty six thousand shillings for the financial year 2023/24. The estimated budget for the coming fiscal year has increased by 565 84700= of 2.6 percent from the current ending financial year of 2022/23 which had a budget of twenty billion eight million six hundred and nine thousand shillings.

The secretary for finance for obongi district local government council Azubu Michael attributed the budget increase to the special fund for road development grand saying government had released Ugandan shillings of 1 billion. Though there is increase in the budget, allocation of the funds in the sector that is education and health sectors earning 1.6 and 1.8 percent respectfully from the total estimated budget

Much of the funds are expected from the central government transfer of twenty billion seven million nine hundred eighty two thousand shillings (20,700,782,000=) at 88.63 percent of the estimated budget followed by external financing with one billion nine hundred six million four hundred seventy four thousand shillings (1,906,474,000=) at 8.45 percent and local revenue collection of six hundred sixty million (660,000,000=) at 2.92 percent,
Habibu Buga Khemis the district chairperson commented the committees for coming up with the draft budget for coming fiscal year. He however, says the district budget will be affected by some of the government projects which are ending this financial year sighting projects like Dr.Dip, USIMID which he said will affect service delivery though their the face two of these project.

The Resident District Commissioner for Obongi District, Samuel Mpimbaza Hasakha, congratulated the council for their successful draft of the budget for the next financial, he however called for team work from every stakeholder being political of civil to ensure implementation of the government project in Obongi district. He said he is committed to working for the success of development plans of the district through close supervision.

However, the area MP Obongi district Boka Didi George during the meeting emphasized more on pro people service delivery. Saying the people expect a lot from the leaders, allocating the fund is one but also Boka said implementation of the plan activities is one very important thing to be considered. He appealed to the authorities at all level to put the local people they are working for their priority. The estimated budget when approved will serve for financial year of 2023/24 that start from July 2023 to June 2024 as stated in the local government act 1997.
