Many Catholic Faithfuls of St Mary’s Asumpta Catholic Parish Ragem, in Arua Diocese thronged the Streets to walk together with their colleagues on the Way of the Cross; meditatively, from the gates of Arua Hill Primary school, up to St Mary’s Asumpta Catholic chapel in Ragem, a distance of about 3.5 Kilometers.

Start of Way of the Cross

At the point of reflection where Simon from Cyrene helped Jesus to carry his Cross, Mari Luiza Azikuru, reflected by saying that since her sins weigh heavily on Jesus she must stop sinning. “I should Work so that I ease the Weight of His cross because of my sins and so that I reduce the pain of His Agony by doing what He teaches me. If I stop sinning, I will reduce the pain of his suffering and Agony.” She Reflects.

Meanwhile, Santos Hanson, Chairman for the  First Mass and Vice Chairman for Finance at St Mary’s Asumpta Catholic Parish Ragem says, Simon’s offer to help Jesus Carry the Cross means we must offer help to those in need. “Simon Helped because he saw that Jesus was already tired! That is why you see us also carrying the cross in our hands to show that we like we are followers of Christ Carrying our own cross daily.” He recounts.

Reverend Father Robert Jungeyo Denis who belongs to the Institute of the Missionaries of Jesus the Devine Master, the parish Priest of St Mary’s Asumpta Catholic Parish Ragem in Arua Diocese; narrates that each one of us is undergoing a number of difficulties or sufferings. But when we reflect on the sufferings of Christ on the Cross, we unite them with our own sufferings and Cast our sufferings under His Feet and get relieved and delivered from all evil forces and Powers and Spirits that Torment Us in one way or the other. “I remember when I asked my Christian religious Education (CRE) teacher why the Day is Called Good Friday When a holy man has died? It is Called Good Friday because the Death of our Savior and the long awaited Messiah was for one purpose and that Purpose is to save you and me.” He declared.
