Bondo Health Centre IV Maternity Theatre construction works reach 50%.

Arua District Leaders have called upon the Contractor for the Construction of a theatre at Bondo Health Center four to adhere to the set project completion Deadlines. With funding under the Development Response to Displacement Impacts (DRDIP) project, the construction works was contracted to Ms. Bludge Engineering and Associates Limited, at accost of nine hundred ninety five million nine hundred three thousand  one hundred sixty(995,903,160) Ugandan Shillings to construct an operating theatre, a medical laboratory block, a four unit staff residential housing and VIP drainable latrines.   

Alfred Madima, the Health Facility management Committee Chairperson for Bondo health Centre IV urged the contractor to proceed with the project work an ensure that the completion is within the contracted period. “If the official handover was done earlier enough I think there would be proper guidance given and thus some of these challenges would be averted.” He Recommended.

Grace Angucia, the Sub county Chief Arivu sub county Local Government called upon the contracts management committee to mobilize the community to embrace the project, and to provide security to the workers, since these are responsible persons who have left their families behind to work in the construction site. “It is a very big achievement that we shall never forget. This a lot of money for Bondo, and on behalf of Arivu Sub county Local Government I wish to say that we shall continue to be grateful to the District Leadership.” He appreciated.

Engineer Tiyo Odaa, the District Engineer for Arua District the work is optimistic because of frequency of the close supervision of DRDIP Engineer and the District Engineer. There will be little delay in the completion of the construction works by the contractor if he mobilizes construction materials and Laborers very well. But the current works is so far in good progress. “With the contractor already setting up the super structure walls, I don’t now see any reason why they should delay especially if they have adequately mobilized for the work.” He advised.

Jimmy Ali, the Assistant Chief Administrative officer Arua District says, the the current construction works at Bondo Health Centre IV is one of the Biggest infrastructural development for a number of Years and the Project will change the face of the Health Centre. He also said that since there is yet a lot of work to be done in the Health facility, the sub county Leadership of Arivu Sub County should own the infrastructural development initiative. “Actually, District of Arua is earmarking it to be the District Hospital.” He affirmed.

Alfred Okuonzi the District Chairman during his visit to the Construction site which he called belated official site handover, called upon the Contractor to pay local material suppliers to full and employ 98% of local skilled and unskilled laborers since they are his voters. He further urged the Contractor to offer financial literacy training and to ensure regular health Checks of the Laborers. He further imitated that while on the table dividing the DRDIP resources which he referred to it as ‘meat’, their eyes remained on other peoples plates because Arua District’s resource  plate was having so small while other Districts were getting the Lion Share. “Now, where they have given us the little resources, please we need maximum satisfaction out it.” He urged.

The construction works to construct an operating theatre, a medical laboratory block, a four unit staff residential housing and VIP drainable latrines is expected to take a period of six months from February 2023.
