Moyo district kick starts 2023 post primary schools ball competition.

The post primary school ball game competition in Moyo district has started on 27th of March, 2023 with 12 schools participating out of the 14 secondary schools in the district, with St Andrews College and Fr. Bilbao memorial secondary staying out of the competition. The annual competition among secondary schools to prepare to present the district to regional and national ball game competition started with minimal indiscipline cases at the three district venues of Celecelea stadium, Moyo army primary and Toloro primary school football ground.

Tiondi Stephen, commonly called Rooney, the team coach for Moyo secondary school who lost in the finals last year expressed that there are ready to compete and reach up to finals again. He said after preparing for about three weeks with the good squad depth this year, he is hopeful to make it to the finals again, Similarly Mandre Joseph Mundu, the head coach for Dufile seed secondary after his first match at Celecelea stadium anticipated his team to progress past group stages amidst their girls losing the first game and boys playing draw. Mandre also noted good level of officiation with few mistakes which he called human eras. Whereas, the principle for st Thomas Acquilas college, Erepi Obsimba Geoffrey said being their first time in the competition, it is the best opportunity to learn and develop sports talent in the school. While speaking after their first match with Dufile seed secondary, Obsimba said he is impressed with the level his team competed saying there is high hope for them though it is there first time in the competition.

As competition for this year was made compulsory for all secondary schools in the district, Edema Wilson, the district sports officer remarked that the two schools who have decided to stay out of the competition will face heavy penalties. Wilson the district sports officer revealed that they have so far written to the two schools who opted to stay out of the competition to make it in written, concrete reasons for boycotting the competition noting that this will called for heavy disciplinary actions.
With the finals set to be played on 1st of April, the winner and the runners up in this competition progress up to regional competition which is slated to take place in Adjumani district.
