Services of Computerized Tomography (CT) scan machine at Arua Regional Referral Hospital have resumed, about two months after the machine developed software problem.

CT scan is a machine that uses x-rays for generating images of body parts, also to detect diseases which cannot be seen my ultrasound and x-ray machine.
Not so long after the machine procured by Ministry of Health was installed at the hospital, it developed software problem.

The Hospital Radiographer, Dr. Ronald Debo explains that, the machine was not able to regulate temperature as it is supposed to do. “The machine is supposed to regulate temperature by itself, synchronizing whatever AC produces, so that (synchronization) was not activated when the machine was installed” he explains.

He says, this resulted to software problem which was later rectified.  “By Monday (May 08 2023), we realigned the protocol so on Tuesday (May 09 2023) we started seeing patients and right now its fully functional” he confirms.

Arua regional referral hospital is one of the 14 hospitals that received CT scan machines though is not yet officially handed over to hospital for full management.

The machine has 3-years warrant in which the supplier is expected to maintain before handing over to government.
