Muni Graduation: Museveni to install chancellor and preside over fifth Graduation.

All is set at Muni University for the dual event on 10th February 2023 as the university officially receives the new Chancellor expected to be installed by his Excellency the president of the republic of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. This installation and graduation was initially set to take place on 14th of January 2023 but was postponed because the President had other engagements on the same day which could not allow him to be part.
However this time round all is in place for the dual event which will have the official installation of Arch bishop Emeritus Henry Luke Orombi as the second chancellor of Muni University who replaces Dr. Eric Adriko Sekebuga Tiyo who led the university from its inception in 2013 until the expiry of his term of office last year.

He says much as there was a delay with the two events, it was because of protocol issues “According to the universities and other tertiary institutions act, the president of the republic of Uganda is a visitor to all public universities in Uganda. That is the title he holds. And one of his roles is to appoint a chancellor and also to install a chancellor in place then thereafter the president is expected to preside over the graduation” Anguma said. A total of 260 students are expected to graduate in different fields with 190 of them males and only 70 female students. Out of the 260 graduates 5 will graduate with a first class degrees from various programs with 3 males and 2 females.

Muni university, the 6th public university in the country was established through the statutory instrument number 31 of 2013. This will be the university’s 5th graduation with the previous ones having taken place in 2017, 2018, and 2019, before the 2020 graduation was affected by Covid19. Later on in 2021, the university had to hold a virtual graduation while the 2022 graduation could not take place following the demise of the then university founding vice chancellor the late professor Christine Dranzoa. A total of 379 students have so far graduated from the university in previous graduations.
