FUFA TV CUP CHAMPIONSHIP: ST. JOSEPH`S COLLEGE LAYIBI BEATS GULU HICH SCHOOL TO PROGRESS TO ROUND OF 16

St. Joseph`s College Layibi has won the FUFA TV Cup Championship for Acholi Subregion in highly heated second leg match hosted by Gulu High School after the first leg of the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
St. Joseph`s College Layibi edged Gulu High School by one goal to nil in the second leg of the match making them to progress to the last 16 on a 3-2 goal aggregate where they will now face a football team from Lango Subregion yet to be announced.
The match saw police deployed to provide security during the game shoot live bullets in the air to quell down highly charged football supporters of the two schools.
Both teams registered yellow and red cards with St. Joseph`s College Layibi seeing their goal Keeper, Jildo Odong, dismissed because of wasting time similarly a player of Gulu High school was also sent off because of violent conduct.
Ongwech Dickson Lumumba, the head coach of Gulu High School said he was not convinced that his player deserved to be sent off. “I don’t believe that was a red card incident, maybe I don’t know football laws but honestly, I need some explanations in that regard, to me that was not a red card incident,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, Robert Omony aka Kawa, the head coach of St. Joseph`s College Layibi said he was happy that his players were able to beat Gulu High School for them to progress to the next stage of the tournament. “I`m very happy for the result that we were able to produce, now we are going to focus on the next stage of the tournament,” he echoed.
