Geneva Gloval Uganda is an international non-Governmental organization operating in 10 districts in Uganda including Oyam, Namutumba, Kalaki, Amuria, Agago, Alebtong, Kitgum and others in supporting the education of children.

In Oyam district, they are supporting 900 learners who had dropped out of schools in the greater Ngai and Otwal sub counties.

Benson Walter Dilla the Lc5 chairperson of Oyam remarkably appreciated Geneva Gloval Uganda for this life changing initiative calling upon parents, facilitators and learners to ensure that these bicycles serve the right purpose pledging that as a district they will do all it takes to ensure that the donation is well maintained.

Sgt Shilaku James the Resident District Commissioner of Oyam noted that these bicycles came at the time they are needed most because some of the beneficiaries were moving in a distance of over three kilometers leading to late coming and absenteeism.

He therefore pledged that his office and the education department will closely monitor this speed school project to ensure that it yields the fruits.

Benson Ongom the district Inspector of schools in charge of Oyam South who equally doubles as the district focal point person for Geneva Gloval Uganda said 30 bicycles were given to speed school learners while 11 benefited community based facilitators.

He highlighted that the intervention of Geneva Gloval Uganda and other partners have reduced the rate of school dropout from 23% during Covid 19 to 22.3% calling upon the parents of these children to ensure that they use these bicycles only over the weekend and during holidays so that the right beneficiaries can use them for effective learning.

Akengo Hellen Kella the programs manager of Geneva Gloval Uganda reminded the beneficiaries that these bicycles still remains the property of Geneva global therefore they have full power and authority to pick them from any beneficiary who will misuse it so that it is given to another person.

Isaac Oyuku a community based facilitator in Otwal sub county expressed gratitude to Geneva Gloval Uganda for this timely support saying they were registering high rate of absenteeism especially among learners who move a long distance of about 3 kilometers and above adding that with the provision of these bicycles there will be great improvement both from learners and facilitators.
