Local government minister Raphael Magyezi has commissioned the completed Oyam district headquarters.
While commissioning the administration block constructed by Bygone Enterprises construction limited at the tune of 2.9 billion Uganda shilling, Minister Magezi commended the contractor for the tremendous work done.
He pledged to send many district leaders to come and witness the architectural design of Oyam administration block and copy the same design.
Magezi stressed that his ministry will work tirelessly to solicit funds to fence the district headquarters in order to guarantee security to the government property in the district and staff at large.
On the issue of creating Aber district, the minister said that the government has not lifted the ban on creation of new districts and administrative units but once the ban is removed, he will prioritize Oyam for the creation of Aber district because of the alarming population of Oyam of over 400,000 people as per recent the census.
He condemned the rampant cases of corruption by district service commission as alleged by hon councilors and urged that the perpetrators to be dismissed from the government office especially those parish chiefs that will temper with PDM funds.
He appealed to lc3 councilors from the newly created town council who threaten to lay down their tools to continue serving as his office coordinate with the office of the ministry of finance to have their issues resolved.

Dr Eunice expressed fear that if government doesn’t fight poverty among people, the building will be rendered useless to the community.
Shilaku James the Resident District Commissioner Oyam equally thanked the President for establishing the district headquarters. He urged the government to tarmac Loro Oyam town council road.
Hon Benson Walter Dila Oyuku the LC5 Oyam has appreciated Minister Raphael Magyezi for honoring their invitation and coming to Oyam to officiate the commissioning of the district headquarters .He says over 1.7 billion is needed to fence the district headquarters.
Dila demanded for the creation of Aber district, Iceme Sub County, Loro Sub County and elevating Otwal and Ngai town board into town council status.
Oyam district has 11 sub counties, 5 town councils, 74 parishes and 1169 villages and covered total land area of 580 km2.
He says failing to create Aber district will give more chance to opposition party to assume all the position in the coming election.
Dila requested the minister to consider paying the ex-gratia for LC1s, 2s and town council councilors which have taken a long time.
Hon Normmy Otieno the district speaker Oyam also Oyam south MP aspirant has urged the ministry to provide LCs with the copy of the constitution in order to ease their work.
Bosco Okello Odongo the technical director Bygone Enterprises limited who was awarded the contract thanked the Oyam district leadership and the central government for awarding them the contract.
He appealed to the government to consider using the local contractors other than using the UPDF Engineering brigade because it will render local contractor jobless and yet they employ local community to help in the construction work.
