Authorities in Moyo district have spoken out on the continued issue of drug stock out at the general hospital that threatens the operation of the facility and service delivery to the local people.

Dr Chandi Fred Opeli the medical superintendent Moyo general hospital remarked that the facility has resorted to borrowing essential medicines from the neighboring facilities for survival which is affecting patients who have to buy drugs from outside.

“It’s now more than four months ,The last time we received drugs was in March and it was circle three and four for last financial year, we expected the delivery for circle five and six in May ,June ,July which never came ,we really don’t have medicines in stock and we keep borrowing from the nearby facilities ”,he lamented.

Mr. Mawa Bashir, the board chairperson Moyo general hospital says that the stock out of drugs affects the public relation between the hospital and the members of the community who have lost trust in the health workers after failing to get the expected services from the facility.

“I Have listened to the plea of the MS. But  the implication will be that hospital management will be misunderstood by the local people, right now whatever am sure they try to explain you may find the local person may not take it as a sole truth especially now that the country is tone apart by issues of corruption”, he said.

Ms. Jessica Onyeritho, the chief administrative officer Moyo appealed to national medical stores to supply the required quantities of drugs to the facilities and also deliver timely.

“It’s true, for the last three circles we have been having challenges in supply of medicines and it’s not only in the hospital but even in the health facilities, in one of the reports in IG, when they went to monitor services, they realized that the facilities had not received drugs but this time they brought but in small quantities, of course you know the drugs are not there, our people don’t get good care,” she noted.

However efforts made a get a comment from pro national medical stores Sheila Nduhukire by press time were futile since she said she was in a meeting.
