OVER ONE HUNDRED MOYO YOUTH ACQUIRE ICT AND MULITI -MEDIA PRODUCTION SKILLS TO ADDRESS UNEMPLOYMENT

Over one hundred youth in Moyo district have been trained on Information communication technology skills and multi -media production to enhance on the usage of ICT tools in order to address unemployment.
The four days training that started on Monday the 17 /06/2024 at Moyo peoples hall was organized by Uganda communication commission facilitated by media vision academy. Those trained include students, entrepreneurs, youth’s leaders and civil servants.
Patrick JP Owochidow senior officer Uganda communication commission in charge of west Nile explained that Ucc has been conducting a six months training in different parts of the country and in west Nile in districts of maracha ,Koboko,Nebbi,zombo,packwach and Moyo with the aim of stimulating the demand of ICT among the youth to addressing unemployment. “Right now we know that ict is a life blood of business, we cannot do without ict even our daily home activities require ict and that is why ucc purposely decided to train the youth, secondly we would like the bridge the unemployment gaps among the youth population, Uganda as a nation has the youngest population who have no jobs,’’ Owochidow noted.
Mr. Robert Nkambo the director media vision academy and the lead trainer narrated that under usage of ict digital tools has been observed in the community thus contributing to the high levels of unemployment. “Over the past UCC observed that there is under usage of ict tools and digital and that there are so many young people and other community members who have been left behind because there are not using the tools of communication effectively, the under usage of ict tools has which has resulted into unemployment and under employment among the youth even when they are educated,’’ he lamented.

Mr. .Alaru Habib one of the participants of the training said that after the training and the skills obtained, they are able to use their smart phones to make money.
While officially opening the four days training, the deputy chief administrative officer Moyo district local government Mr. Vuciri Geoffrey implored the youth to embrace digital economy through the usage of ICT tools.
