Leaders of Terego district have warned the residents of Katrini Sub County against vandalizing the newly constructed solar water pumping boreholes at various schools across the sub county.
Vandalism is destruction or damaging of property in a manner that defaces, mars or otherwise adds a physical mark that diminishes the property’s value.
The state minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development who is also the area Member of Parliament for Terego East constituency Hon Obiga Mario Kania says “Those projects are important to all of us and we must take care of them other than vandalizing them”.

However, Yaphet Munduga, a concerned resident of Olua Parish states that, it is mostly done by the youth before calling them to desist from the act. “We as the youth, we essentially don’t think about our future, something being given freely by the government like water and even sometimes sign posts placed by road sides, we typically vandalize them without knowing our parents suffer most, subsequently,” said Yaphet.
Whereas Mr. Alu Ocinale Natalia John, the head teacher of Katrini primary school noted that, “I am getting tired of doing repairs each and every time as people furthermore keep on destroying what is being refurbished”
The punishment for malicious damage to property can cause the suspect to face a maximum of five years in prison as written in section 145 of the penal code Act of Uganda if found guilty.
