UPDF OFFICER IN MOYO REMANDED OVER DEFILEMENT OF A 16YRS OLD JUVENILE

Moyo chief magistrate’s court in Moyo district has charged and remanded a Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF) officer over alleged defilement and aggravated trafficking of children.

It’s alleged that the accused Lagu Robert 35 years a UPDF officer attached to Lugazi military Engineering Brigade transferred a 16yrs old victim by means of deception to engage the victim in sexual exploitation and also had sexual intercourse with her which happened in pamoju west village, Aluru Sub County, in Moyo district.

The accused was arraigned before magistrate grade 1 his worship Buhungiro Benjamin on October 3, 2024 who remanded the accused up to October 30, 2024 for the accused to appear before the chief magistrate and take plea.

He also said that both offences attract a maximum sentence of life imprisonment and therefore can only be tried by the chief magistrate.
