Police has arrested radiology staffs attached to Arua Regional Referral Hospital over an allegation of theft of digital X-ray machine components which include HP Laptop Silver in color and a Samsung Galaxy tab phone.
This comes after Hillary Onziga the in charge of T.B ward and X-ray machine at Arua Regional Referral Hospital on 07th/02/2022 reported a case of the equipment missing at the hospital store. “I got to know that the items were missing when I reported to the hospital store ready to sign the above items to proceed to the field for normal duty , when I made a follow up with Abila Billington he denied having any knowledge about the equipment.” Onziga stated

According to the police public relations officer for West Nile region ASP Josephine Angucia, Police acted quickly as soon as the case of theft of medical equipment was opened under the Arua CPS/CRB153/2022. “Police visited the scene and documented it, recorded statements from relevant witnesses, identified, arrested and detained the suspects Abila Billington, Okello Alex and Olul Bernard on 08th/02/2022 for purposes of investigations; they recovered and stored the exhibits.” Angucia confirmed

However when contacted the manager of Furaha Link Ventures LTD, Arua Branch located along Pajulu Road at social center next to the police barracks who preferred not to be named in this story confirmed that the company is demanding Billington Abila 1.2 million Ugandan shillings which he had borrowed, “What I want is my money not anything else, the man you mentioned did not steal the computers maybe he did not play his cards well.”
The Hospital Director Dr. Filbert Nyeko reveals that most of the staffs of the hospital have over stayed and feel that they can do what they feel. “Some of the staff have over stayed, others serving their 10^th, 12th even 15^th year at the facility and ministry has to do something if we are to stop these habits developing.” This is not the first time Medical and non-medical equipments are disappearing at Arua Regional Referral Hospital.
